Look out for details on how to get your hands on a Scotland Loves Local gift card, part of a major new drive to boost local businesses.
Local cards – which can be accepted by businesses of all kinds – are being launched all over Scotland with a card for each of the country’s 32 local authorities to be used only in that specific region.
Scotland Loves Local, a campaign urging people to think local first for all their needs, was launched last year to help businesses bounce back from the pandemic.
Now, it is hoped that people will use a card in local shops, restaurants, and to pay for other services – boosting local businesses and local economies.
Businesses are being asked to sign up for the card with Phil Prentice of Scotland’s Town partnership, the organisation promoting the campaign, saying: “These gift cards will ensure that money stays local for longer. The more businesses that sign up, the better the local experience will be.”
