It’s one of Glasgow’s most-loved shopping venues and now Princes Square is set to showcase the work of local traders – from start-ups to larger independent brands – in its new Collective project.
From now until Christmas, Princes Square Collective will have its own space on the ground floor alongside leading worldwide brands including Kate Spade, Ted Baker, Reiss, Cos and Timothy Oulton.
The independent collective, which aims to showcases homegrown design talent, will feature eight different brands each week. The sellers will book in advance and have an allocated unit to trade in on the ground floor of Princes Square every Saturday and Sunday.
Katie Moody of Princes Square explained: “At Princes Square we like to be different and offer our guests an exclusive experience with unique retailers and food options.
“The Princes Square Collective will give up-and-coming makers, local artists, retailers, and designers the chance to showcase their wares to a captive audience. If you’re a local artist, retailer or maker looking for a city centre location, we’d love to hear from you.”
With over 25 retailers and 12 eateries, Princes Square is regarded as Glasgow’s premier retail and leisure destination, located in the heart of the city’s bustling Buchanan Street.
The upmarket mall is housed in an iconic 19th-century building that has previously been voted Scotland’s favourite historic building and offers unrivalled premium surroundings in Glasgow.
High-profile Scots jewellery designer Euan McWhirter, who has worked for top jeweller Erickson Beamon and seen his designs have adorned by Kylie, model Laura Bailey and Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson, was one of the first designers to take part in the Princes Square Collective.
A graduate of Central St Martins in London, he said: “I’ve previously worked with Princes Square on various pop-ups and events. It represents the best of independent and luxury shopping in Glasgow, so it’s very exciting to be back alongside other great Scottish brands and to be selling face to face with customers after working mostly online for the last year.”
Others included Lynsey Thomson, Faux & Foliage, Green Thomas, KT McCrossan, Nmarra, Postmarque, and Sorores Aromatherapy.
