Built in 1912 by Major Archie MacKinnon, a former country house has made its debut as the Isle of Skye Guest House following a £250,000 refurbishment.
Owned by The Fusion Group, which operates a varied portfolio of hospitality businesses across Scotland, the country house sits amid five acres and is overlooked by the Sgurr na Coinnich mountain range. It is one of the very first stop-offs after the Skye Bridge.
This initial facelift has seen accommodation in the main house, comprising nine en-suite bedrooms, open for bookings. Brand new en-suite bathrooms have been installed and several room layouts have been reconfigured. New TVs have been installed along with WiFi.
The second phase of the refurbishment will see the six bedrooms in the separate garden lodge open for guests. A further final phase, likely to be this summer, will see Fusion seek planning approval for 34 two-bedroom lodges for let, alongside a custom-built Club House.
“We are delighted to be open and trading,” said Alex McKie, group managing director of The Fusion Group. “With another record staycation year predicted on Skye and other Scottish islands, we have hit the ground running here with £200k of forward bookings already secured for the rest of the year.”
Other properties in the group include Old Churches House in Dunblane, Logierait Lodges in Pitlochry, and Royal Gardens Apartments in Stirling.
